Summer is here

You should have noticed by now that all of my (Jeff) posts are in white, as opposed to Anna's yellow. Just to let you know for future reference. Anyway, with the impending end to another school year, here's my first crack at a top ten list, for no apparent reason. Without further ado:

The top ten reasons why the end of the school year is a glorious thing:

1. That means summer time: green lawns, flowering plants, and the warm sun.

2. No more dealing with the day-to-day work stuff. I'd go into more detail, but I love my job too much. Really.

3. Getting out early from school on those last half-days. Its always fun to get home earlier than normal, no matter what.

4. Summertime opportunities: sometimes its professional, but mostly not. The best trip this summer: Red Sox vs. Houston Astros at the end of June.

Nerd alert! Reasons 5 - 9:
5. I really like cleaning out my classroom. Call me crazy.

6. It makes me so proud to see my students from the current year at the end of their year-long journey. They really have grown a lot since last August.

7. Seeing past students come to visit me at the end of each year. Life goes by very quickly.

8. I like the opportunity to reflect on the year and see what went well and what I can change.

9. I also like the opportunity to be able to take a step back from school, recharge the batteries, and get ready for the next year by planning ahead during the summer.

And finally...
10. Are you kidding??? No more students!!!
